Makeup Media/Tech BOY Meeting
Good news! We will have a second virtual Media/Tech BOY Meeting on Tuesday, November 3 at 1:00pm. This is a makeup meeting for those that were unable to attend the other day.

We will be covering information regarding the annual reporting due in December - DLMI and DL Rubric please plan to attend.

You should see Q & A, in your Google Meets. It is available along with Breakouts and Polls. The really nice thing about this feature is a report will be sent to you at the conclusion of the meeting, enabling you to follow up with students who have asked questions that were not able to be addressed in the live instruction.

Relay Classroom
If you school used Relay Classroom last year it is IMPORTANT that you remind teachers they have to do one of the following to their classes last year:1. Archive and Delete the class - found on the menu of any archived class
2. Clear all the students out of inactive classes
OR
3. Open Relay and remove any and all restrictions they had placed on the class last year, if you have active students in the class this is the one you want to select.

Questions left unanswered - The PHONES
1. Is there a master list district wide in the making? Not at this time. However, we do have most of the Media and Tech Extensions on our master list in the folder. Click here if you need a link.
2. IT Direct or Not? answer is Yes, and No. If there is an issue with a drop, phone placement, technical phone issue, etc. YES put it in IT Direct and tag it as phone. If it is a display name/extension issue, NO don't put it in IT Direct, instead use the Extension Update linked here. Make a copy, fill it out and send to Shirley Nixon. She will import and update extensions into the phone system directory that way.
Action Item - If you haven't already please complete the Interest Survey, even if you say "No" we would like to know either way.

Tech/Media Meeting Date Change

The meeting will take place at Town Hall in Facility Services from 4-5:30pm. Parking is limited at Facility Services so please consider carpooling or meeting in the parking lot across from McDonald's and carpooling from that lot.

1st Quarter Meeting
We enjoyed spending time with you yesterday at our 1st Quarter meeting. As a reminder, talking points from our discussion can be found in Google: Tech Contacts > Meetings > 2013.
As you might have noticed, Doug Denton delayed the Kaspersky update and is still working on another solution that wouldn't disrupt your things so much but here is an explanation that might help you better understand what is happening.
Kaspersky upgraded to version 1611. The license for our current version is expiring on 9/29. Under our current version, prior to the expiration date, multiple messages may appear at each workstation stating the license will expire in X-amount of days.
Kaspersky has discontinued support for our current version, and we are forced to upgrade the Kaspersky client software to version 1611 and to perform a second install of a required patch before the new license will install successfully.

Technology Services has looked at multiple scenarios for deployment
of the Kaspersky 1611 client software and the required patch and have
worked closely with the technical support department at Kaspersky. The
only viable solution for our environment is to perform the installs as
tasks through our Kaspersky server console. We have created tasks to
accomplish this and are still working out the least disruptive settings
to our users.

The April 30 meeting needs to have representation from each school. If you cannot attend, please make sure that someone attends in your place (media, assistant principal, member of your MTAC, etc.). We will be covering end-of-year procedures and, as most of you know, we will be working with the AMTR (https://schools.nc.gov/amtr) and how to finalize for the 2012-13 school year. In order to complete the report, you must use your NCID to log in to the site. If you do not have an NCID, please let us know by Monday, April 22 - via an email to Amy Stanley.
