Quick Fix: Smart Ink Issue with Chrome Browser in AD

We have received reports of an issue with SMART Ink not working correctly with Google Slides in Chrome Browser at some of our Active Directory schools.  The quick fix for this issue is to exit the full screen mode of the presentation. This will allow the SMART Ink to work correctly.  To view presentations and use SMART Ink, launch the present mode of your Google Slides presentation, and then click on the arrows icon in the lower left toolbar.</div>

This new version has a slightly different look and some new features.  One of the best new features is the activity builder tool.  This tool makes it very simple to create activities for your students to interact with the SMART Board.</div>

Wednesday Web Tool: Building Language for Literacy from Scholastic!

This week we are featuring a web tool for early elementary students from Scholastic. Building Language for Literacy is a collection of three online activities that are interactive whiteboard friendly for students to learn spelling, naming, and rhyming.

Quick Fix: Smart Ink Issue with Chrome Browser in AD

We have received reports of an issue with SMART Ink not working correctly with Google Slides in Chrome Browser at some of our Active Directory schools. The quick fix for this issue is to exit the full screen mode of the presentation. This will allow the SMART Ink to work correctly. To view presentations and use SMART Ink, launch the present mode of your Google Slides presentation, and then click on the arrows icon in the lower left toolbar.

This will slightly reduce the screen size of the presentation but will allow SMART Ink to work correctly with the presentation.

Wednesday Tool: SMART Notebook 11 Activity Builder

Over the summer, most schools were updated to SMART Notebook version 11. This new version has a slightly different look and some new features. One of the best new features is the activity builder tool. This tool makes it very simple to create activities for your students to interact with the SMART Board.

The following screencast demonstrates how to use the activity builder and an example activity for math and social studies.

SMARTBoard Epson Projectors

In the event that you have a technical issue with an Epson projector, you would need to contact Epson directly to do some basic trouble-shooting for them to verify the problem first, as they require this before a replacement can be sent out. The number is 1-562-276-4394.

Please make sure you record the incident/case # of the conversation for reference purposes. Once the problem is identified and Epson gets the school address for shipping the replacement projector, the replacement will be sent overnight. Once the new projector is received, you will then need to ship the bad projector back in the same packaging the replacement came in. (Epson will send a shipping label to send the defective projector back, and no freight will be charged.)

Our school technicians will replace the projectors.

SMARTBoard

If you have SMARTBoards in your school not operating as you think they should, you might want to verify that the correct cables are plugged into the correct spots in the video splitter. For example, there should not be empty space at the top or bottom of a projected image. Some schools are finding the projected image displays properly on the entire board when the correct cables are plugged into the correct places.
