Friday Google Tidbit: Hyperlinks in Google Sheets

Hyperlinks in Google Sheets

Creating a hyperlink in Google Sheets used to mean editing a complicated formula. Not anymore! There are 3 easy ways to insert links into Google Spreadsheets.

To get started, open Google Spreadsheet and click on the desired cell and type the text to be hyperlinked. Choose one of the following methods.

Method # 1-Right click the cell and select insert link. Type or copy and paste the web address into the link box. Click “Apply” and it’s done.

Method # 2- Click on the hyperlink icon in the menu. Type or copy and paste the web address into the link box. Click “Apply” and it’s done.

Method # 3- Use the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl k. Type or copy and paste the web address into the link box. Click “Apply” and it’s done.

Friday Google Tidbit: Google Spreadsheets

A new version of Google Sheets was released this week!  It's an exciting time for us!  What's different?
  • It's faster
  • larger spreadsheets are supported - millions of cells
  • Text moves over to the next cell - no manual merging needed
  • Filter views - name, save, and share different views of your data (when collaborating)
  • Formulas and complex functions now have a formal help section...there is even error highlighting and coloring to spot mistakes
  • Improved conditional formatting
  • Spreadsheets can now now work offline just like Google Docs and Slides (Chrome browser only)

Check out it from Google's Official Blog!

Ready to try it out?   Sign into your Google account, and check the “Try the new Google Sheets” box in Google Drive settings. From then on, all new spreadsheets you create will work offline and include these new features.  Win!
