Speak Up Survey Open
Speak Up 2017 survey is open for participation October 16th through January 19, 2018 with results released in February 2018. Speak Up is an annual research project conducted by Project Tomorrow, a national education nonprofit group that collects and reports on the views of K-12 students, teachers, administrators, and parents on education and technology. More than 5 million students, educators, parents, administrators, and community members have shared their views regarding the use of educational technology through the Speak Up surveys. The password for Johnston County is speakup17. Please encourage teachers, students and parents to participate (one great way to promote it is to put the information on your website). It only takes a few minutes. The Speak Up 2017 website includes:

SpeakUp Survey is open!
- Go to this link: http://www.speakup4schools.org/speakup2016
- Click on the appropriate survey (Student,
Educator, Parent, Community member).
- Follow the given instructions to
access the survey. Begin by entering your school zip or clicking on
the drop down button and select your state, then go to the next line and
type in your school name to find your school.
- Students will choose their grade level
and enter in their school specific password: speakup16
- Parents and Educators will NOT need the password to access the survey.

Don't forget the following events this Fall:
1. Speak Up survey window is October 1 - December 18. The password is speakup15, please share with staff, students and parents. 1 great way to do that is to post it on your website. Here is an image you can use in your banner and be sure to link it to the survey (included in the image)
- November 5 and 24 - code.org - after school offering (must attend both days) Sign up in MyLearningPlan.
- November 6-8 - Any Barnes and Noble location - MakerFaire - demos, play space, get ideas for starting a MakerSpace, etc. Check out this event on their website.
- November 17 - 4:00 pm - South Smithfield Broadcasting demo and training for anyone interested in attending
- November 19 - 3:00 OR 4:00 - West Campus Room 250 Follett Shelf with Karei Swift from Follett (all media please plan to attend one of the sessions)
- December 1- 3:30-5:00pm, West Campus Computer Lab, Google It Up, Learn how to use Google Apps for Education to organize your classroom and let student innovation shine (Register on My Learning Plan).
- December 3- 3:30-5:00pm, West Campus Computer Lab, Differentiate with Google Classroom, Learn how to use Google Classroom to differentiate learning in your classroom. See example lessons and activities to get you started on the path to differentiation (Register on My Learning Plan).

Participation in the Speak up Survey is optional but if have a few minutes to take the survey or better yet let your student take it we would appreciate your participation. The county has already been registered and the password is displayed in the image. NCDPI would like to have some information from every district across the state.
