Issue Claiming JCPS Identity Account on Chromebooks App Launcher

Are your students experiencing issues claiming their JCPS Identity accounts through the app launcher on the school chromebooks? If so, check that the Chromebooks are running Chrome OS 98 or higher (Chrome OS needs to run version 98 or higher for optimal function and for testing).

You do not need to be logged in to see the Chrome OS version; simply check in the top right hand corner of the Chromebook once it is powered on.

Please ensure student chromebooks are updated right away - even the new ones. You can go into settings to manually update Chrome OS version. After logging in on a chromebook, type chrome://settings/help in the browser search bar to go directly to your Google Chrome settings; follow the directions on the screen to check if your Chrome OS version is up-to-date (or at least OS 98).

There are a couple of different ways to get to those settings (check out/ share Kelly Nolan's Slides deck instructions here - also thanks to Kelly for the head's up on this issue!).

Please note that each device has an Auto Update Expiration (AUE) date and any older chromebooks that have reached that date will not receive software updates from Google.
