Media Monday (1/4/2022): Happy New Year! What Are You Reading in 2022?!

Happy New Year!

Who else's new year resolution is to read more in 2022? I don't know about you, but I'm hoping to put a dent in my TBR list this year!

If you are looking for some ideas to promote literacy in the new year, check out these quick and easy ideas created in Canva for Education (check out the blog post about Canva for Education from November HERE in case you missed it).

"Currently Reading" Signs

Promote literacy and spark up great conversations about books with students and colleagues, and keep your reading momentum going with "currently reading" signs. Design your sign in Canva for Education or use the one linked HERE. Print copies and laminate or put in sheet protectors so titles can be easily updated! Display them on office and classroom doors to promote literacy and reading throughout your school.

Book Bingo Reading Challenge

Kick off a "Book Bingo Reading Challenge" for staff and students at your school! Have it last through the remainder of the school year or the entire year. Make copies and print for interested staff or students. You can even offer fun prizes for those who complete the challenge. Linked is an example of a template for the Book Bingo Challenge I did at Cleveland HS last year. Feel free to customize as you like.

Media Monday: 2016 Reading Challenge Ideas

2016 is a new year and with it comes new goals and challenges!  I have seen many versions of Book Challenges and thought you might like to try one at your school either with your staff to encourage reading and book discussions among your teachers or with your students.  Here are a few that I found to get you started....anyone want to challenge the Media PLC groups?

This is one that has point values and could be used for a drawing at the end of the year:  http://orangeowldiaries.com/2016/01/06/2016-reading-challenge/

Here is a link to a variety of challenges by genre: http://www.belleslibrary.com/2015/12/2016-reading-challenges.html

Here is one I found on Facebook on the WeAreTeachers Reading page:

New school year updates

As always with a start of a new school year all computers need to be started so they can get the updates from the summer.  Here is a quick snapshot of how we are doing.
Our schools are doing a good job turning on computers getting ready for opening day. Here's a
graph showing the amount of Windows computers reporting data back to SCCM.

The following graph represents percent of our total Windows computer base reporting data back to SCCM.

Thanks for the extra effort to get everything up and going before the students return on Monday!  We are off to a great start.
