New Website

The new website rolled out on July 3 and we have been working with the webmasters to get everything looking right prior to the start of school.  On the homepage of each site there is a link for people to report issues of problems.  Lots of things are a little different and it will take people a little bit of time to get used to the new look and feel.<br />

One such change is in the JCOC page: <a href="http://www.johnston.k12.nc.us/jcoc" target="_blank">www.johnston.k12.nc.us/jcoc </a>- this page is very different looking - it is organized into 4 categories and the IT Direct organization is at the bottom of the page it will still need to be copy and pasted to start a ticket.  You might want to share this change with your teachers.  Please note you can also get to this page from the Quick Links on each home pages called "Staff Connections"<br />

Changes in the JCOC Page

We are working on cleaning up the JCOC:<a href="http://www.johnston.k12.nc.us/jcoc"> www.johnston.k12.nc.us/jcoc</a> page<br />

Here are a few changes that directly impact Technology Contacts at the schools.<br />
<ol>
<li><b>I-manager</b> - this will only be used for Novell, since we are moving away from Novell, you will need to bookmark the page for the remainder of your time in Novell.  Here is the direct link: <a href="http://10.4.0.19/nps">http://10.4.0.19/nps</a>.  You can also use the link in your Tech Folder.</li>
<li><b>E-Control</b> - is no longer a service we pay for, previously teachers used this service to reset their passwords using security questions.  However, since it only worked with Novell accounts, we have also removed this link.  Requests for password resets should go through IT Direct.</li>

<b>New icons</b> - you will notice that there are new icons for PowerSchool (principals) and PowerTeacher (teachers) both icons say HomeBase.   Homebase is the overarching name that DPI has given to all the products they are rolling out this year.  You might help your teachers understand that all these products are housed in this one location to avoid confusion.<br />

<b>On the SOC</b> (Student Online Connections) page you will see a PowerSchool icon as well - this is the link the Parent and Student Portal.  ClassScapes will be accessed through Homebase, more information to come on this as DPI continues to complete the transition.</div>

Changes in the JCOC Page

We are working on cleaning up the JCOC: www.johnston.k12.nc.us/jcoc page

Here are a few changes that directly impact Technology Contacts at the schools.

I-manager - this will only be used for Novell, since we are moving away from Novell, you will need to bookmark the page for the remainder of your time in Novell. Here is the direct link: http://10.4.0.19/nps. You can also use the link in your Tech Folder.
