Changes in the JCOC Page

We are working on cleaning up the JCOC:<a href="http://www.johnston.k12.nc.us/jcoc"> www.johnston.k12.nc.us/jcoc</a> page<br />

Here are a few changes that directly impact Technology Contacts at the schools.<br />
<ol>
<li><b>I-manager</b> - this will only be used for Novell, since we are moving away from Novell, you will need to bookmark the page for the remainder of your time in Novell.  Here is the direct link: <a href="http://10.4.0.19/nps">http://10.4.0.19/nps</a>.  You can also use the link in your Tech Folder.</li>
<li><b>E-Control</b> - is no longer a service we pay for, previously teachers used this service to reset their passwords using security questions.  However, since it only worked with Novell accounts, we have also removed this link.  Requests for password resets should go through IT Direct.</li>
</ol>

<b>New icons</b> - you will notice that there are new icons for PowerSchool (principals) and PowerTeacher (teachers) both icons say HomeBase.   Homebase is the overarching name that DPI has given to all the products they are rolling out this year.  You might help your teachers understand that all these products are housed in this one location to avoid confusion.<br />

<b>On the SOC</b> (Student Online Connections) page you will see a PowerSchool icon as well - this is the link the Parent and Student Portal.  ClassScapes will be accessed through Homebase, more information to come on this as DPI continues to complete the transition.</div>

Changes in the JCOC Page

Here are a few changes that directly impact Technology Contacts at the schools.

Creating New Students

Props to our CTAs who remember that adding new students is a two-step process this year! Awesome teamwork! We know we create new students by using iManager for the Novell directory, but because we are moving to Active Directory, we also need to let Terry Thompson know who these new students are so they can have their Active Directory as well as Google (for high school) accounts created.

After creating a new student account in iManager, we go to the iManager Account Creation Form.

Please continue to do this for new and transfer students.
