I originally wanted to use it to launch "Get Caught Reading" Month in May and as a rewards system for positive behaviors, acts of kindness, and book check outs/ returns. I offered three color tiles to students for checking out books, four color tiles for checking in books, five tiles for students who "got caught reading," and tiles to students who I saw being kind and helpful. These items are guaranteed to work with our network as well as include any additional charges such as enrollment fees. Items such as tablets and accessories that are purchased outside the quote folder may be subject to additional fees or upgrades to work properly. This is especially important for Chromebooks, that may be donated or bought outside the quote folder will need a separate purchase for an enrollment package in order to work on our network.</div>

Media Monday (3/7/22): Literacy Grant Opportunity

Applications are open for the Alpha Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Literacy Grant. This grant is open to all JCPS staff who are seeking additional funding to promote literacy within their schools, school libraries, or classrooms.

Media Monday (2/7/2022): StickTogether Micro Grant Opportunity

Apply for the StickTogether Micro Grant!

The StickTogether Micro Grant is open! The grant includes a school-wide bundle of StickTogether posters and Stickerboards valued up to $1,000. Winners will be selected based on their vision for involving their entire learning community and creative plans for engaging all members, school wide.

The deadline to complete the grant application is February 28, 2022. The time estimated to complete the grant proposal is about 5-10 minutes. You can find and complete the application HERE! If you aren't familiar with StickTogether, these are activities which are easy, low-tech ways that allow students of all abilities and primary languages the opportunity to collaborate and communicate with others. There are so many ideas to integrate StickTogether into your school library space:

Brain breaks

Computational thinking
Spatial reasoning
STEAM/ STEM
Pixel art
Teamwork
Occupational therapy
Schoolwide collaborations
SEL
And more!

At my previous school, I implemented a StickTogether program for my high schoolers and it was a hit. I originally wanted to use it to launch "Get Caught Reading" Month in May and as a rewards system for positive behaviors, acts of kindness, and book check outs/ returns. I offered three color tiles to students for checking out books, four color tiles for checking in books, five tiles for students who "got caught reading," and tiles to students who I saw being kind and helpful. It was an easy and fun programming idea.

Voya Unsung Heroes™ Awards Program

For nearly 20 years, and with over $4 million in awarded grants, Unsung Heroes has proven to be an A+ program with educators. The program's "alumni" have inspired success in the classroom and impacted countless numbers of students. Each year, 100 educators are selected to receive $2,000 to help fund their innovative class projects. Three of those are chosen to receive the top awards of an additional $5,000, $10,000 and $25,000.

The Voya Unsung Heroes Awards Program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America. Scholarship Management Services is the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals.

Chromebook Individual Grants

Quick clarification - please share with the Asset Manager at your school (some school this is the Media Coordinator)

Yesterday we issued nearly 62 chromebooks to individual grant winners. These chromebooks were purchased to support professional growth and development and here are the stipulations that we shared with each winner:

The chromebook has been checked out to you and is assigned to your school’s asset inventory. If you change locations (move to another school), the device can go with you. (Please notify the ISD team know if you change schools). If you leave the district, the device will be returned to the last school where you worked.
Your device is covered under a one year warranty for manufacturer defects. Should there be an accident, the cost of the repair will be your responsibility. Repairs could cost as little as $50 or as much as a full replacement.
You are responsible for maintaining your device in working order. This includes the charging cord that was supplied with your device.
This device is intended for your personal professional development. You may choose to allow students to use your device, but be vigilant if they do.

Thank you for helping support this initiative and continuing to explore ideas with your teachers about Google and their professional use of their Google accounts to grow with their students! This is a great opportunity to get your teachers on board using Google in the classroom.
