Canvas and Google Classroom Cleanup

It's that time of year! Time to clean up your digital classroom space so you will be ready for a fresh start in 22-23. Follow these tips for Canvas and Google Classroom.

Canvas:

  • It's a good idea to export your classes from this semester/year so you will have a copy of the course file.
  • If you are changing schools or roles for next year, consider adding a colleague to this year's courses as a designer so they will have access to your content and can copy the content into their courses for next year.
  • At the end of the year, after all, students have finished working, conclude your course so no further submissions can be made.
  • Consider organizing your dashboard and favorite courses for quick access next year.

Google Classroom:

  • Be sure to archive classes in Google Classroom, this also clears any Lightspeed restrictions/rules you have created for students which are very important to avoid issues next year.
  • Clean up calendars from this year's Google Classes by clicking on the three dots next to the calendar and clicking "hide from list" OR you can delete the calendar by clicking on "settings and sharing", then scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click the delete button.
  • Remember that all of your content from every Google Classroom class is saved in your Classroom folder on your Google Drive. You can use these files to easily populate your classes next year.

We hope these tips help you wrap up the school year and give you an organized start for 22-23!
