Reminder - New Staff and Students


'Tis the season for new staff and student enrollments. Please be aware that a staff member or student must be added first in PowerSchool before their account can sync with ClassLink and corresponding instructional application access can populate. This process normally takes 48 hours to complete after they were added to PowerSchool. If on the third school day after being added to PowerSchool, they are not able to access instructional apps such as Lexia, DreamBox, or Savvas, please complete our instructional app support request form for assistance.

A frequent reason for staff or student access issues is the lack of an email address in PowerSchool. If you have PowerSchool access, you can check their profile in PowerSchool to see if they have an email address listed.

Finally, please note that the instructional app support request form is for instructional apps only. For assistance with non-instructional apps such as Safe Schools or AESOP, please refer to the "Who to Call" list in ClassLink to direct your request for assistance.

LETRS Update

Our elementary and preschool teachers across the district have begun their online LETRS course in the science of reading. As tech contacts, you may encounter requests for assistance with LETRS. We have a Google Form to assist with the following situations:
  • New JCPS staff members
  • JCPS staff members who are transferring into a role that requires LETRS training at a different school
  • Name/email/school site/or program changes for staff as changes occur such as a name change or transfer into a different program area (such as a teacher becoming a curriculum coach or a kindergarten teacher moving to pre-k).
  • Removal of staff members from the LETRS training (such as a teacher leaving JCPS or transferring to a non-LETRS required position).
Please feel free to share the link to the form with any staff member who has a need based on the scenarios described above. Responses from the form must be formatted into a file and sent to the LETRS vendor for processing. Responses are sent on Mondays and Thursdays to the vendor for processing. Please note that this is a multi-step process and it might take a few days for access to be granted or updated.

LETRS training will take two years to complete so we will have a process to handle change requests for quite some time.
