Google has now released the Google Expeditions app for iOS devices!
This means that you can use an iPad to control student devices that have the free Expeditions app on them for virtual field trips using Google Cardboard viewers (the teacher device does not need a Google Cardboard viewer). In order to see student devices, the student and teacher device must be connected to the same network. Expeditions has hundreds of virtual field trips already created and ready to view. As the leader of the expedition, you can control what students see on their screens and point out particular locations or features. Here is a video tutorial on how to use Google Expeditions:
This week we are sharing a special Back to School episode of The Google Apps Show. This episode highlights how to use some exciting new features of Google Apps for Education including Google Cast, Google Classroom Updates, and Google Expeditions.
Jenny discusses Cast for EDU (http://google.com/edu/cast-for-edu), which was the #1 request from educators last year. Teachers can move around the class interacting with students 1:1, and students can share their screens with the click of a button.

Recently, the Google Education team launched the annotation feature, which helps students understand complex problems such as math or science through a whiteboard-like feature. Annotations are also great for teachers too. Teachers can quickly grade assignments by writing directly on the student’s work, or highlight the most important passages in a text or novel.
Lastly, we discover Google Expeditions (https://www.google.com/edu/expeditions/). Students can discover the human cardiovascular system or the Himalayas in Bhutan. Since we launched Expeditions, more than 1 million students across 11 countries have been on one of these virtual field trips.
