March is National Reading Month
March is full of reading celebrations and activities! It is a time for us to celebrate reading and advocate for our school library programs.
2022 Middle School Battle of the Books
District Competition
On Friday, February 25th, the following eleven teams participated in the district middle school Battle of the Books competion: Archer Lodge, Benson, Cleveland, Four Oaks, Meadow, North Johnston, Princeton, Riverwood, Selma, Smithfield, Swift Creek.
The third place winner is Cleveland, the second place winner is North Johnston, and the 2022 JCPS Middle School Battle of the Books winner is Swift Creek.
Congratulations to our teams and coaches on a job well done! All of our teams have worked very hard throughout the school year! Good luck to Swift Creek as they advance to regionals!
Read Across America
It's Read Across America Week! We are excited for the celebration of reading that will take place across our district. A child’s ability to read has a direct effect on their future success. Reading with a child helps to increase their vocabulary and improves their reading fluency and comprehension. On March 2nd, we encourage EVERYONE to pick up a book and read to a child. Whether it’s a beloved classic or something new and exciting, we encourage you to spread the joy of reading!
