Tech Ready Spring 2014
Greetings!  It’s time to update Tech Readiness!  Go to www.techreadiness.net to get started.  If you have issues accessing the site, email Stephanie Canning at stephaniecanning@johnston.k12.nc.us.  Deadline is June 6
The staff member (Tech Contacts and/or the Media Coordinator) responsible for completing the Tech Readiness Tool should:

1-    Update enrollment information (School Information) and revisit survey questions (Staff / Personnel Issues & Roadblocks).  The Network Information and Testing Information has already been updated.
To access enrollment and survey information, log in, click the Setup Tab, and then select School Readiness Survey Question.

2-    Update all testing device data.  Only enter data on devices that will be used for testing: PCs, full size or 13 inch laptops, and Chromebooks.  NOTE:  The following devices are not approved for online testing: mini laptops and iPads.
To access device inventory data, log in, click the Setup Tab, and then select Device Inventory Management.

a.    Device name should resemble brand and model number.  Ex:  Lenovo 7303 W3V
b.    Location or IP should be the actual room number where the device is located. When using the auto populate tool, it auto fills the IP address so change it to the room number.
c.    Mark all windows-based devices as Windows 7.  All schools will be Windows 7 byAugust 1, 2014.  We can show you how to do this in a matter of minutes, so please call if you need help.  NOTE:  Let us know ASAP if you have been migrated to AD and still have PCs operating on Windows XP.
d.    Memory for all devices should be 1 GB at a minimum.  If the PCs/devices have more than 1 GB, indicate the accurate amount.
e.    Browsers should be marked as Internet Explorer 9 or Google Chrome.
f.     If you have more than one model PC/device in a lab/cart, indicate quantity in device count field, instead of having multiple entries for each PC/device.
g.    Delete any PCs/devices that have been discarded.

3-    Is your site 100% compatible?  The Home page displays a Readiness Status for your site.  If you are not at 100% in any of the areas, click the report to learn more. NOTE:  Let us know ASAP if you have been migrated to AD and still have PCs operating on Windows XP.
To view your sites Readiness Status, click the Home page tab and information will be on the left area of the screen.

4-    Your principal should review all data.  Some sites prefer to print a report for the principal to review and approve.  Once your principal has approved the data, check YES to Mark Data Entry Complete, which tells JCS you are finished, meaning your site is 100% compatible.
To mark your sites status complete, log in, click the Setup tab and then select Mark Data Entry Complete.

Important Reminders:

1-    Refer to the Tech Blog for Chromebook specs:  http://jcstechleader.blogspot.com/search?q=chromebook.
2-    It takes an hour or so for your information to be refreshed/updated so if you are not at 100% after an hour, please review your entries for errors.  The most common errors are resolution and monitor size.
3-    Completion deadline is June 6, 2014.
4-      Please call Michelle Turnage 919-934-7325 x100 or Stephanie Canning 919-934-7325 x111 if you have any issues or need assistance.
