A takeout order would be really good right now, but we're talking about Google Takeout, and we're thinking you're really going to like it!

It is important to have a backup of your data in Google--ALL your data that you've created and used this year: Blogger, Contacts, Drive, Reader, etc.  (Remember your Mail archive is in Gaggle.)

Introducing Google Takeout @ google.com/takeout

Step 1: Go to google.com/takeout to Create Archive

Step 2: Choose Services

Step 3: Allow Google to Build your Archive

You can allow the download to work in the background and have Google email you when the archive is complete or wait at the screen that builds your archive.  If you elect to receive an email, the email will give you a link to go straight back to your archive and download it as a .zip file.  The .zip file will contain folders of the various services you've archived.  For example, you might have a Contacts folder that contains the various address books you've created or your Drive folder will contain the various folders and documents you've created.

As we near the end of the school year, please (1) take advantage of this opportunity to create a backup of your data and (2) refer the staff in your building to this information.  You can directly link to this blog post or create your own directions, but please help us get the information out!
