EOG Testing & Device Preparation

1 - Continue to coordinate with the Testing & Accountability Department on device preparations and logistics for EOG testing.

2 - If devices are collected from student check outs, allow adequate time to collect the Chromebooks & chargers, assess usability of the device, and run needed OS updates.

Note:  Tech Services will not have adequate time to repair devices across the district for testing.

Online Testing

As a reminder, Chromebooks cannot be used for EOGs or EOCs this spring.  It looks very favorable that Chromebooks will be a supported device for state testing next school year.  Please see here for official documentation.

NCDPI has approved iPads as a device that can be used for state testing this year; however - Johnston County Schools will not be delivering EOGs or EOCs on iPads.  Each iPad would need a testing profile installed, which includes locking down 35+ features.  (If you are curious, you can click here for the long list of iPad restrictions that go along with the testing profile.)

State Testing on Chromebooks

In February, NCDPI's Accountability Services and NCSU's Technical Outreach for Public Schools went to Cleveland High School to observe a simulation for online state testing.  81 students used Chromebooks to take the EOC online released forms for Biology, English II, and Algebra I/Integerated I.  We would like to send a quick shout out to Chris Danehower for helping to orchestrate this opportunity.

This was the first step in NCDPI's process to approve Chromebook devices for use with NCTest during the 2013-14 school year.

The simulation went very successfully, but there are small adjustments to make, additional testing to complete, and technical/lockdown procedures to publish before Chromebooks are officially approved for state EOG/EOC/Extend2 testing.

Please be advised that the Chromebooks have not been approved for EOC/EOG/Extend2 testing this spring.
