This week we are sharing a great tool to refine YouTube video content to enhance instruction and student engagement. Vibby allows you to highlight sections of a YouTube video and add comments.

For example, if you found a great video on weather systems but it is thirty-five minutes long and this week you are studying tropical cyclones, you could use Vibby to highlight the five minute section on cyclones and add teacher comments to help your students understand the key topics and vocabulary within that section.

To get started, visit: https://www.vibby.com

Click on register and create your free account. Then click on "Create vib" in the top right.

You will need to copy and paste the URL of the YouTube video you wish to edit or you can search YouTube in the search box. Remember to check that students can view the video before continuing.

This will launch the video player. The first step is to create your highlights. This is the portions of the video you wish to show as well as add comments. Simply move the slider to the time you wish to highlight and click the "Start Highlight" button.

Add your comment (if desired) to the highlight, you can repeat this process as many times as needed.

Along the bottom of the screen you have the option to "skip" only to the highlighted sections. You can turn this off if you want students to view the entire video.

Once you are happy with your Vib, click next. You will then need to give your Vib a title. You can also choose to keep your Vib private.

Once you save your Vib, you can share it with a link, embed it on your website, or download it.

I hope you find Vibby to be a useful way to use YouTube videos for instruction.
