Chandra Cook, Sheila Robertson and Robin Willis are serving as representatives for the region 3 Battle of the Books this school year. At the end of this year, Robin will cycle off and we will be in need of 1 more volunteer to serve on the committee as a representative starting in the 2016-2017 school year.  Please be sure the media coordinators in your district are aware of this opportunity to demonstrate leadership beyond the school level (Standard 1 on the professional standards), and have them contact me if they are interested in serving in this role.

Responsibilities include:
  • attending State Battle of the Books Committee meetings (approximately 4 per year)—our next meeting is Friday, September 19
  • writing questions for 1 or 2 books on the new list each year
  • communicating with system/county level contacts
  • collecting verifying compliance forms
  • coordinating the regional competition with the other representatives and host district
  • assisting at the state competition

If you are interested email Robin Willis and copy Amy Stanley. We hope one or more of you might be interested in this leadership opportunity.

In the past many of you have worked with your school in order to attend the NCSLMA Conference - October 22-24, 2015, as always the conference is in Winston Salem, NC.  Registration is open until September 30, 2015 if you are interested in attending this year.
