This week we are featuring a new web tool that integrates with Google Drive to allow students to quickly create mind maps.
To get started, go to: www.mindmup.com
Click on "Create a new map" and you will be asked how you would like to save your mind map. You can create a map that is publicly visible for free or link your Google Drive to create a private map that you can share if you wish.
You can now edit your map:
MindMup has keyboard shortcuts to make creating your map very intuitive. You can use the toolbar on the right side of the screen (outlined in red above) or use any of the keyboard shortcuts to perform the same functions. On the top left side of the screen (outlined in blue above), is the menu of options to save, edit, and share your map.
Here is the mind map I was able to create in just a few minutes:
I really like the ability to add images and links to each node on the mind map. I could see this being a powerful study tool for students to create and share maps on different topics.
MindMup has an optional feature to enable live collaboration on a map, click on the Extensions menu and check the option for live collaboration.
Once you have finished your mind map, click on the Save or Publish buttons on the top right side of the page.
The first time you save to your Google Drive, it will ask you to authorize MindMup to connect to your Google Drive.
