This week we are sharing a great free web tool that allows students to create their own e-books. My Storybook is available as a web-based platform that works on tablets as well as desktops/Chromebooks. My Storybook is free to create and share e-books via a web link. If you wish to download a high quality PDF of an e-book, it is a one-time fee of $5 per e-book.

To get started, go to: https://www.mystorybook.com/

Click on the "Create a storybook" button to create a new e-book.

The main interface is very user friendly and there is a step by step tutorial available at any time at the top of the screen. To edit, simply click on the page or on one of the icons on the left side of the screen.

Click on the text box to open the editing options. You can choose from a variety of fonts, colors, and sizes. Click and drag to move the elements.

My Storybook has all types of scenes available to set the mood and setting of your e-book.

The first time you click on the save icon in the top right corner, you will be prompted to sign in or create a free account.

My Storybook has a basic clip art collection available for students to use in their e-books. Students can also import their own images to use as well.

Once you are finished with your story, click on the finished button.

If you choose to publish your e-book, you will be given a link to your story. This is perfect for Google Classroom, since students can submit links as an assignment.

Once your story is published, it is available in your account library. Students can continue to edit their story after it is published.

I love the ability to draw directly on the pages in My Storybook. I hope you consider using My Storybook to build student authorship and creativity.
