Happy Friday!

This week we are sharing an awesome new and inexpensive piece of technology that allows you to bring virtual reality into your classroom: Google Cardboard.

This is a Google Cardboard viewer...think of it as the new "Viewmaster" toy we all loved as children. It allows you to view virtual reality apps on your smartphone (Apple or Android) in an immersive 3D experience.

Using the Cardboard Camera app (currently only available for Android users), you can capture your school or classroom as a 3D experience for students to view using Cardboard viewers. Going on a trip? Use the app to quickly capture your location to share as the ultimate souvenir postcard.

Are you ready to experience Google Cardboard?

Your first step is to get a viewer. Viewers can cost as little as $5 or as much as $300. We have the unofficial cardboard viewer in our office and it works well. Just a caution that some of the earlier styles do not work well with iPhones so it is a good idea to look for iPhone compatible models if you use one.

Once you have the viewer, you will need at least one virtual reality app on your smartphone. We use free apps whenever possible.

Here is a chart of the top five most popular Cardboard apps:
