We hope you saw in the news that we have been selected as a district partner with Code.org!  Here is a link to the press release in case you haven't see it....http://www.johnston.k12.nc.us/cms/One.aspx?portalId=3023758&pageId=8112600.  If you have participated in the "Hour of Code" you are already familiar with code.org and know that your students are going to love this!

Johnston County Schools is the ONLY K-5 district partner in the state of North Carolina!  Code.org is a non-profit that has dedicated it's efforts to exposing kids at an early age to computer science concepts.  You might be saying "I can't teach computer science" but there are many concepts that can be talked about in every subject area and the pre-made lessons are fun to teach and easy to implement into your classes. We are inviting you to  attend the first workshop scheduled for October 23 (the first flexible workday this school year).

You will in turn receive 2 curriculum guides and a box of materials to assist you with implementation as well as great code.org SWAG. The workshop is posted in MyLearningPlan for you to sign up.

If you are someone you know is interest? Check out and share this 1 page flyer.  We look forward to working with you to explore coding!
