Due to a variety of issues, we need to push out an update to every computer and laptop in the district. Updates include Chrome, ActiveDirectory, and Smart.

Please instruct your teachers to turn on their machines the morning of both January workdays-January 20 AND 21. These updates will be "pushed" centrally, but the update is so robust that the school server can only process about 20 machines at your site at a time so it will likely take the full 2 days. Laptops can handle the update to Chrome wirelessly, but if it needs the Smart update (typically teacher machines), it must be hard wired. (We will also share this information with our DLCs and Tech Contacts.)

For computers that are NOT turned on during this time period, please note that the user WILL experience a delay anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour once the machine IS turned on. We are asking that all machines be turned on during the work day to prevent interruption to instruction.

Please note iPads and Chromebooks are NOT impacted by this update. Hooray!

Also, please note that due to inappropriate use, the generic login for the TACS computers will be changed on January 14. Computers that are used solely for TACS should be logged in with username jcstacs and password jcstacs. This login will only permit access to the TACS website in Internet Explorer.
